Happy 1st!

Happy Birthday to our darling neighbor and Adelaide's best friend! Today she turned one but we celebrated over the weekend at her birthday party in the park:

Dakota had fun demolishing her personal birthday cake.

Adelaide with the birthday girl and her dad, Brad.

Adelaide experiencing the slide with the protection of her daddy.
(notice their matching shoes?)

Adelaide kept her party hat on pretty much the rest of the day. Cute.

We All Need a Little Pink

Pink

Lately California is on my mind, and I miss it terribly. I miss the weather, my family, good friends, breakfast burritos, frozen yogurt, watching Rick surf, laying out, playing on the beach, the boardwalk, road trips, the sea breeze, and for some reason today- The Pink Umbrella Man. I don't even know if he can still be found slowly strolling the streets of downtown Santa Cruz, but I hope so. I plan on finding him when I take my trip to the golden state this May.

Easter Cookies

It's beginning to feel like Spring:)
I spent the morning making some egg-shaped gingerbread cookies. The recipe is from my Grandma and they are Delicious.

Carrot Teether

Adelaide is growing her bottom two front teeth lately and loves to put anything and everything in her mouth. I'm not sure if you are supposed to let babies chew on carrots, perhaps it is a choking hazard or something, but Adelaide really enjoyed this. Is it gross that I ate it after she was done?

Spring Break Bike Ride

It is Rick's Spring Break and a perfect time of year to start doing family bike rides. Back in San Diego we used to get together with some friends every Tuesday night during Spring and Summer to beach cruise down the boardwalk and enjoy Rubio's or a BBQ. We thought it would be fun to do something like that here too... maybe on the Boulder Creek Path?

San Diego Crew... We Miss You!

Yesterday would have been a perfect day in terms of weather to go for a little bike ride but we didn't have our act together, so we were determined to go today even though it is supposed to snow this afternoon. It was a little chilly but definitely a good time.

Daddy's little helper.

Adelaide is a little unsure about this whole thing... especially about her ginormous helmet.

Our little family on a trail near our house.

I guess it was Adelaide's nap time.

Kiss Me I'm {part} Irish

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

We got this funky green dress when I was pregnant on one of our adventures to Mexico. I think Rick picked it out in fact.

We are about to head out to the store to get the ingredients for a Shepherd's Pie that I'm making for a Patty's Day Potluck. Normally I would make corn beef and cabbage tonight but I think someone else is bringing that so maybe I'll make it another night this week instead.

Sunshine

I don't know what this look is about.

I love sunny days. This morning Adelaide and I went for a jog and then over to the swings. It makes me happy that she is such a good running companion. So far I have run four miles with her, but I'm hoping she'll keep being a little angel as I increase my mileage. Oh, and at the park we met a little girl named Lula. What an adorable old fashion name... I think I will keep that name bookmarked in my head in case I have another baby girl someday.

Nosy Bears

Last week for some reason I kept having flashbacks of a childhood teddy bear. When you squeezed the tummy of the bear the nose spun around. I remember that my siblings also had similar bears... one with a nose that had race cars that spun around, one that popped popcorn, and one that blew up a balloon. Does anybody else remember these from their childhood? I couldn't remember what these bears were called, but after searching the internet I discovered they were called Nosy Bears. I'm so glad to have reconnected with this childhood memory. I think I might have to buy one of these for Adelaide but the question is which one?!?

dear neighbors

Please don't live in an apartment complex if you own dogs but have no time to stay home with them. Constantly barking by the door ALL DAY LONG is not fair to the dog. Your dog belongs in a place with a yard where it can run around and with an owner who has time to play.

Please don't smoke weed (even if it is currently legal in Colorado) all day everyday. As we all share indoor heating this smell becomes very potent in the apartment above you (us). Perhaps this explains why Adelaide has always been so giggly.

Thank you, that is all.
