Embroidered Jar Toppers

I picked up this lovely little book last summer and it is filled with adorable but simple projects for special occasions. Most are still on my to-do list but I did finally make my version of the embroidered jar toppers as mother's day gifts:

I embroidered a cute little bee for the honey jar.

And I did an "M" for my mom's lemon curd (She goes by Michelle, Mom to the kids, and Mimi to the grandkids so I thought the "M" was fitting).

I was quite pleased with the way they turned out and am excited to try out some other projects soon.

Handmade Gifts

This past Christmas I really enjoyed creating a few gifts for members of my lovely family. Here are some of my 2010 Christmas projects:

I made some other things as well but forgot to take pictures of them.
I had a delightful time thinking of these gifts and then putting them together. Handmade Holidays are the best :)

Say Cheese

I recently read Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and absolutely loved it. One of the many things she inspired me to try was to make my own cheese. So I ordered myself a mozzarella cheese-making kit recently and gave it a shot. It is really tasty and I'm excited to keep making more!

I know it is not perfectly smooth and beautiful, but I'm new to this.

Google Google

My Dad was doing a job for google in which he sandblasted A LOT of mason jars with their logo. Just like the good old days, all the kids that were in town helped get it done and we had a great time together. Eric and I made up an awesome jingle in which we simply sang "google google" over and over. Quite annoying I know, but also beautiful.

Adelaide liked helping until some tape got stuck in her hair (by her dad) and pulled a bunch of her tiny blonde hairs out.

He reminded me of an Oompa Loompa so I asked him to do some Oompa Loompa poses for me while I sang a song for him.

Flower Headbands at Poppy

I'm pretty excited because an adorable boutique just off Pearl Street called Poppy is going to try out selling some of my headbands... Hopefully people buy them!

New 'Do

Rick will kill me I know for posting this picture but it cracks me up so I'm going to do it anyways. Over the weekend I wanted to change up my hair so Rick, my stylist, dyed my hair. I thought this color I had bought long ago was a light brown, closer to my natural hair color (which is a mousy dirty blonde), but it turned out to be a very bold slightly reddish brown. Oh well, I'm sure it will fade eventually and I will go back to blonde.

Flowers

I have been wanting to make some cute flowers for Adelaide's headbands since before she was even born but I never seemed to get around to it. Finally yesterday I went to Michaels and picked up some supplies and had a great time making ridiculously large and colorful flowers.
My Mom found us this cute hanging 'A' and I attached some pink ribbon to it for the flowers to clip on to.
Adelaide is very happy about all this.
