Moooo

Have you ever played the animal game? It basically goes like this:

Emily's Photos 084
You blindfold the 'it' person and spin them around in circles.

Emily's Photos 092
The 'it' person points to someone and yells an animal name from the top of their lungs.

Emily's Photos 087
The person that gets pointed at must make the animal noise to the best of their ability. If the 'it' person guesses correctly who the animal noise maker is, then the animal noise maker is now the 'it' person. If they guess incorrectly, then they have to spin around and try again. While the 'it' person is spinning around the rest of the crowd is free to switch seats. And on and on it goes.

hint: point towards the crying baby sound when you are it and you can be pretty sure you'll get the mom.

The first time I played this game it was with Rick's family in LA and it was the first time I had met many of his cousins. I had a hard time remembering their names, let alone recognizing their voices in animal form. I spent a lot of time that day in the middle of the room blindfolded.

Thanks Grandpa!

Idaho? No Udaho!

That is dedicated to you, Mom. I really wanted to buy that shirt a long time ago and you would not allow it... I believe you deemed it inappropriate.

Adelaide, Jess and I just took a lovely trip to visit my grandparents in Idaho. We spent a week together and it seemed to go by so fast, we miss them already!

Here are a couple of pictures from the week, and I'm sure I'll do more posts later to highlight other parts of our trip.

Grandma and Adelaide.
I don't have as many pictures of the two of them together for some reason but it was so precious when Adelaide would fall asleep in her arms. I would always come back to this cute scene after going for a run.

Sometimes we would put Adelaide in this box with cheerios and puffs for a while. Grandma even pushed her around in it attempting to entertain her, but she didn't even seem to notice or appreciate it... all she cared about was eating her snacks.

Fair-Weather Campers

Over the weekend we went on our first family camping trip with Adelaide.

May 17 2010 037
When we arrived in Palisade the weather was pretty nice and Adelaide enjoyed playing in the grass and attempting to eat twigs.

May 17 2010 030
Rick set up our little tent for us and we were ready to enjoy the great outdoors!

May 17 2010 038
We went with some good friends and they introduced me to my first tinfoil dinner (at least that I can remember). It was delicious and we had a great time hanging out by the fire. We also enjoyed Dough-boy's for dessert, or as San Diegans call them: Woof 'ems! Yum.

May 17 2010 040
Around 11 p.m. it started raining NONSTOP, and it continued all night long. We didn't know this but our tent is not suitable for rainstorms and literally by midnight we had a couple of inches of very cold water inside with us. All our clothes and bags got soaked first, and then our mattress got pretty much drenched. Somehow I managed to find a spot that was somewhat dry if I laid in a sort of zig zag position and kept Adelaide on my chest. Rick was not so lucky and literally sat up underneath a blanket ALL night. Whenever I think about this I can't help but bust out laughing, what a scene.

May 17 2010 052
As soon as the sun was up we got out of there and started our four hour drive home through rain and even snow. Colorado, someone really needs to help you understand proper May weather.

May 17 2010 058
I think during the storm Rick was more concerned about the wellbeing of his poor bike out in the rain than he was about his wife and baby. When we got home he found my hair dryer and spent some time nurturing his 'other child.'

This trip was a learning experience. Never again will we go on a camping trip unless the weather forecast is sunny with high temperatures. We are just not hard core campers. That being said, we still had a great time hanging out with friends and mother nature before the storm hit:)

Arizona Sunshine

Earlier this month we headed out to Arizona to spend time with family and attend a wedding.

This trip we decided to park our car near the airport and Adelaide really enjoyed the shuttle ride from the parking lot to the airport.

mAY 13, 2010 058
She also loved riding the airport tram on her daddy's shoulders.

mAY 13, 2010 078
We went to such a beautiful wedding and fun reception while we were there- this is the only snapshot we have as proof because we were too busy dancing. Adelaide loved the dance floor too but eventually fell asleep on her aunt Meg.

mAY 13, 2010 071
It was sooo hot in Arizona and a perfect time to introduce Adelaide to the pool. She LOVED the water!

mAY 13, 2010 074
Adelaide with her great grandma hanging out in the pool.

mAY 13, 2010 064
Adelaide loves animals! One of Grandpa and Mimi Janet's dogs, Lily, is her new favorite. She followed Lily around nonstop while the rest of us enjoyed Janet's amazing peanut butter cookies and played games.

mAY 13, 2010 080
We let Adelaide try some corn on the cob... she ate the whole thing!

mAY 13, 2010 085
We celebrated Mother's Day and my birthday Sunday morning with the fam. Jess is the best sister and drove by herself out to Arizona to spend my birthday weekend with me too:)

mAY 13, 2010 082
The lemon bunt cake and quiche were delicious!

We enjoyed the quality time spent with family and also the hot summery weather. When we got back to Boulder it was rainy and even snowed. Yuck! I'm hoping the weather here matches up with it's rightful season soon!

My Next Baby

Lately some people have been picking up unintended hints that I may be pregnant: I was really sick a couple of weeks ago, I like to wear peasant-like outfits and I also enjoy eating A LOT. However, the only baby I'm getting ready to bust out is the completion of a half marathon next month. I really loved being pregnant and having a baby, but there was one thing I did not like... laying down on my side shortly after the birth and seeing a floppy pancake in the place of what was once a relatively flat stomach. Because of this I vowed that between each child I will complete a half or full marathon. It definitely feels good to be getting back in shape again. I started training February 5th and after running 7 miles this morning I have reached my 100 mile mark! I am really excited to run the Aptos Half Marathon with my dad and sister (and maybe my little brother?) this June.

We ran the Palos Verdes Half Marathon together in May 2008
